Raptor Smoke Alarm Troubleshooting Guide

Step 1: Identify Triggering Unit
"Could you walk around and check the alarms? Does any unit have a fast-flashing red light right now?"
YES - Fast-flashing red found
Rapid red flashing detected
NO - No fast-flashing red
No rapid flashing detected on any unit
Logic: ACTIVE ALARM - Smoke detected.
"That unit has detected a nuisance. Please press the center button once to silence it (Hush). Then, use a vacuum or soft brush to clean the perimeter vents."
Step 2: Fault & Memory Check
"Is there a red light flashing every 20 seconds, a yellow light, or a red flash with a beep?"
Red flash (every 20s)
Alarm Memory - Triggered recently
Yellow or Red+Beep
Fault indicators detected
No Faults/Memory
No fault lights or beeping patterns
Logic: ALARM MEMORY - Unit was triggered recently.
"This means the unit was recently triggered by a nuisance like steam or dust. To reset the light, we need to perform a test. I also recommend cleaning the vents now to prevent it from happening again."
Logic:
• Red+Beep = Low Battery (Escalate)
• Yellow 2x = Sensor Fault (Clean)
• Yellow 1x = Low Battery Hush Mode (Escalate)
• Yellow 3x = System Fault (Escalate)
Step 3: Cleaning & Power Verification
"Is the unit hardwired (AC) or 10-year battery only (DC)?"
AC / Hardwired
Green light should be solid
10-Year Battery
Battery-only model
"Understood. On the front of the alarms, do you see a solid, constant Green light, or is that light completely off?"
Green light ON (Solid)
AC/Hardwired Model - Power confirmed
Green light OFF
No power to the alarm
Battery unit. Tap test button to confirm a green flash (Power OK).
Power Issue Detected
"That usually means the power to the alarms is off. Please check your circuit breaker or fuse box and let me know once power is restored."
1. Check circuit breaker: Locate smoke alarm circuit.
2. Reset if tripped: Flip OFF then back ON.
3. Verify power: Check for green light on AC units.
4. If no power: May need electrician if breaker continues to trip.
Full System Test (Radio Link Test)
"Press and hold the button for 1 second. This tests the whole network."
1. One unit is held for 1s.
2. After a delay, ALL other units flash Green and beep 6 times.
Case De-escalation & Closing
"It looks like the system is powered and communicating correctly now. Cleaning the unit should prevent those nuisance alarms.

We will monitor this for you. If the alarm sounds again without a reason, please call us back immediately so we can look at replacing the unit."
Internal Note: Log as 'Nuisance Alarm - Cleaned & Tested'. Do not replace unit unless issue persists.

Diagnostic & Resolution Matrix
Scenario Diagnostic Questions Resolution Logic
False Alarm / Nuisance "Is the unit near a bathroom, kitchen, or AC vent?"
"Has it been cleaned in the last 30 days?"
Fix: Instruct to clean perimeter vents. Use the push-to-open hinge to access.
If persists: Escalate.
Single Beep (54s) "Count the seconds between beeps. Is it exactly 54 seconds?" Fix: Low Battery. Internal 10-year lithium.
Action: Escalate.
Double Beep (54s) "Is it two short beeps together every 54 seconds?" Fix: Sensor Fault. Clean vents thoroughly.
If continues > 1 hour: Escalate.
No Power / Dead "Is the small green light glowing on the face?" Fix: AC Power Loss. Check breaker.
If power on but unit dead: Escalate.
